Terms of Service
Last updated June 7, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Conan desktop application and the conan.sh website (together, the "Service"), provided by WhatMatters LLC ("WhatMatters", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. These Terms are effective as of the date above and also serve as the end-user license agreement for the installed Conan application; there is no separate EULA.
1. Agreement to terms
By using the Service you confirm you can form a binding contract and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
2. The service
Conan is a macOS-native desktop application that observes and visualizes Claude Code. It does not replace Claude Code or run any model itself; you run Claude Code yourself and Conan adds an observability layer around it. Conan runs locally on your Mac and reads Claude Code's local session data.
Conan requires an Apple-silicon (M-series) Mac running macOS 11 Big Sur or later, and a working installation of Claude Code. Intel Macs are not supported. Availability and features may change over time.
3. License & acceptable use
Conan is offered as one application on a freemium basis: a free download with core functionality, and a one-time $29 purchase that unlocks Premium features. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Conan. Your purchase includes all updates within the 1.x release line, with no per-device limit and no subscription. The license is granted to you as a single user and may be used for both personal and commercial work on the Macs you control. Your Premium license is tied to your purchase; please keep your license key private and do not share or publish it.
You agree not to:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
- resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the Service or license keys;
- circumvent the Premium gate or any license/entitlement check;
- use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others' rights.
4. Purchases & payments
Premium is sold for a one-time price of $29 through Polar.sh, which acts as the Merchant of Record for the transaction. Polar processes your payment, handles applicable taxes, and issues your receipt; we do not store your full payment-card details. The price is USD $29, one time. Your purchase is governed by Polar's terms in addition to these Terms.
Because Conan is freemium — the free download lets you try the app before you buy — Premium purchases are generally non-refundable. Polar, as Merchant of Record, may still issue a refund at its discretion or where required by applicable consumer law.
Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable statutory rights you may have under the consumer-protection laws of your country or region — including any mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights — which continue to apply regardless of the above.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and content, is owned by WhatMatters and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the Service, not any ownership of it.
Conan is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic (maker of Claude Code), and is not affiliated with Conan Properties International. "Claude" and "Claude Code" are trademarks of Anthropic; all other marks are the property of their respective owners. We use these names only to describe compatibility, and our use does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
6. Third-party services
The Service works alongside third-party software and services — including Claude Code (Anthropic) and Polar.sh (payments). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WhatMatters will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of the Service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $29. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be communicated as required. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You and WhatMatters LLC agree that the state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
